Go up access road and turn L. At the end of the road turn R. Arriving at tarmac road turn R along road. Continue straight across A682 to Middop Hall. WALK A Turn R into farmyard going straight through and up concrete road and through metal gate heading for crown of hill. Bearing slightly R walk towards the L side of a large beech tree, then continuing on L of fence to the stile. Bear L down to bridge then bear L again to stile and gate. Turn R up the road at . WALK B Continue on road as it goes down to the L going through a gate at the bottom and up a hill and through another gate before coming to a road junction at . Turn R on road looking for FP on R after approx 250yds. Head for fir trees to stile in wall. Head for house in Howgill over stile in fence and continue in direction ofelecttricity pole in front of you, down to stile on L of wall at bottom of field. Follow hedge on your R passing through two metal gates. (look R to see site of moll pond for historic Howgill Corn Mill.) Continue down track and through gate turning R along road to . WALK C Continue straight ahead along road until another junction turning R . Take this road arriving at Stopper Lane after 1 mile. (The first 3-storey building on your R was the sawmill.) Turn R at the junction (look for the Francis Duckworth plaque about half way down the row of houses). Continue along the road going through the hamlet of Newby before arriving at Martin Top Chapel (look for the sundial). Turn L along road to Howgill. Continue up the road to junction with the A682. Turn R for 50yds then L (busy road). After ¼ mile turn L for Foxhill.
